Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Leaving Footprints, LLC (“Leaving Footprints,” "Mems", “we,” “us,” or “our”) and our corporate affiliates collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our mobile applications, websites, or otherwise interact with us (collectively, the “Services”).
This Privacy Policy also explains your choices regarding how we use information about you, including how you can object to certain uses of information and how you can access, update, or delete certain information. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should not access or use our Services.
Mems collects information directly from you when you create an account, upload or share photos, or otherwise provide information to us. We also collect information automatically when you use our Services, including information about your device, interactions, and activity within the app. In addition, we may receive information from other sources, such as when other users share photos with you, when you connect third-party integrations, or from service providers and partners.
We use this information to provide and personalize the Services, to deliver photos only to the people who are in them, to improve our recognition technology and product features, to communicate with you, to support customer service, to maintain safety and security, to comply with legal obligations, and, where you consent, for promotional or optional features.
We disclose information in limited circumstances, including to service providers who help us operate and improve the Services, to third-party integrations you choose to enable, to affiliated companies or in connection with business transfers, to legal authorities when required, and with your consent.
Information You Provide
When you register for an account or set up a profile, we collect personal information such as your name and phone number (through our authentication provider). When you register for an account, you are required to provide a photo, which we process to generate a face embedding. This embedding is used solely to match you to photos in which you appear, including photos uploaded by your friends. You may also choose to display this photo as your profile photo, but doing so is optional. If you choose to provide access to your device contacts, we process your contact list to help you discover and connect with friends who use Mems. When you upload or share photos, we process and store those photos along with associated metadata, such as the time and date a photo was taken or basic device information. If you contact us for support, we collect the information you provide, such as descriptions of the issue and any additional details needed to help resolve it. If you make purchases within the Services, we collect billing details through secure third-party payment processors.
Application Data
With your permission, Mems may access your full photo library, as determined by your iOS settings. We also process face recognition data by generating embeddings of faces that appear in photos, which are stored in our database and linked only to your account. This processing enables grouping and matching of photos to the correct individuals. For more details, please see the ‘Biometric Information’ section below. In addition, if you enable push notifications, we process notification tokens in order to send you alerts about new photos, friend requests, or related activity. We may also collect device and usage data, including IP address, operating system, app version, crash logs, and diagnostic reports.
Automatically Collected Information
When you interact with the Services, we collect information such as timestamps of uploads, features used, and your in-app interactions. We also collect device data including your phone model and system configuration. We may process approximate location information derived from your IP address for security and operational purposes, but we do not collect precise GPS location data unless you explicitly grant permission.
Website Analytics
Our website does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies. We may, however, receive limited technical information from our hosting provider, such as IP address and timestamp, for security, maintenance, and operational purposes.
Other Sources
We may also receive information from other users when they share photos with you or invite you to the Service. If you connect third-party services, such as cloud storage or authentication providers, we receive information as permitted by those services and your settings.
